Welcome to the Junior Section of Minchinhampton Old Course
Minchinhampton Old Course has maintained it's Golf Mark status and has a thriving Junior Section. Both girls and boys are encouraged to develop their golfing skills and become active members of the Junior Section.
Coaching sessions with the Professional Peter Dangerfield and Eve Clements PGA Level 1 coach and Junior Organiser are held on Saturday at 9.30am throughout the year. Boys and girls start group lessons when they are ready from the age of five or six years but can join in at any age. Lessons take place on the practice areas, in the indoor academy and on the course.
As well as attending group sessions, juniors are encouraged to receive individual lessons with Peter to further develop their golfing skills.
Club Competitions and card marking sessions are held frequently during the school holidays. Popular parent and child competitions are held on some Sunday mornings throughout the year. These are all aimed to give juniors the opportunity to gain confidence on the course, practice what they have learnt in lessons as well as learning about etiquette and golf rules.
Juniors are awarded Club handicaps up to 54. Once girls have a handicap of 36 and boys a handicap of 28 they are eligible to enter club competitions and play for club teams. They are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities with GGU, GLCGA & GGG.
Membership is available to juniors. Juniors are kept informed of what is going on through email and the Junior Board situated in the club entrance.
